A light hearted short article by Ralph Holmes
CAN YOU HELP IDENTIFY A THEY
The Himalayas have the Yeti North America has the
Big Foot
at Flixborough pond we have a
"THEY"
, I have not seen one myself but there is quite a
bit of interest as people keep passing comments like
"THEY"
keep it nice and
"THEY"
are sorting out the pegs. The bird watchers have had
quick sightings but cannot identify this
"THEY".
The farmer has seen one and described it has about
5ft 8" stocky with big shiny eyes a trunk with an
orange end which moves along slowly round the pond
with a side to side swing eating the grass as it
goes.
Every half hour or so it takes a drink from a
container, Its mouth must be at the end of
it’s trunk, It then continues and every 10 or
15 metres goes down to the waters edge and out of
sight then reappears and continues along the bank.
It must be happy because he hears it humming while
it is eating the grass.
He has also seen it moving pallets about and digging
where it goes down to the water.
It appears at different times sometime 6 in the
morning and afternoons on hot days he noticed it
shed a skin.
If you could identify this
"THEY"
or photograph it or catch one we could maybe start a
breeding programme and if it were a success we would
have no need for working parties as this
"THEY"
would do it for us .
We could all then just sit down and enjoy the
fishing !
