Shakespeare Targa Specimen Line

This is a superb dual bonded polymer line that has a low diameter, 0.20 millimetres for 6lb's breaking strain, it has amazing abrasion resistance and a high knot strength, it comes on a handy 600 metre bulk spool so you can easily fill several deep spools.

I have used this line mainly for my Trent fishing in 6 to 8lb's and I must say that it has performed perfectly, there are many low diameter reel lines available to the angler in these  breaking strains but I have chosen this line because it is very forgiving, having plenty of stretch, and a good diameter for the breaking strain with an amazing abrasion resistance when fishing on rough bottom or in snag prone swims but most of all it is an unbelievable price for a very good all round feeder or specimen line.

Silstar Match Team Low Diameter Hook length 100metre spools

I have been using this Silstar Match Team hook length for around ten years now and I can honestly say that there is not a better hook length on the market especially at this price as you buy this line on 100 metre spools giving excellent value for money, It has all of the quality's that you would expect from a good low diameter line it is supple with the added bonus of good stretch which is of vast importance for a hook length to perform well.

The 1.7 breaking strain has a diameter of 0.08, and the 2.6lb's 0.10 - 3.3lb's 0.12 - 4.6lb's 0.14 - 5.5lb's 0.16, I use this line right up to the 8.8lb's although it is hard to get hold of in the higher breaking strains, If you can, give it a try as I am positive that you will never buy another low diameter hook length once you have.

High Density Leads

If you have ever seen these little beauty's then I will not have to explain but if you haven't  you ought to have a look for yourself because they can make all of your bomb fishing an absolute joy, they are made from a high density materiel thus being much smaller in size for weight than any of the bombs that you have probably used before, they cast like missiles and can improve your accuracy no end.

Again I have used these bombs for at least ten years and they are easier to get a hold of now than in the early days when not many tackle shops stocked them so you should be able to find some local shops that do, they are not as cheap as the other larger bombs on the market but well worth the extra pennies.

Shimano GT5010 Baitrunner

This is an absolute gem of a real that has been used and abused over the years but is still as good today as the first time that I used it.

I have used a pair of these reels for all of my Trent feeder fishing hauling in big feeders time after time over the years but these reels still perform week after week, they have one of the first and best baitrunner systems from Shimano which works unbelievably well under any circumstance, they have a 5.1 to 1 retrieve (for those that don't know this is the revolution of the bail arm around the spool to the revolution of the handle from a fixed point) giving a very quick winding capability, they are equipped with a smooth rear drag system which can be set in fine increments and superb line lay.

I have never found a situation that these reels would not fulfil whether feeder fishing on big rivers, taming big carp or pike fishing these reels are the absolute dogs !.

The Shimano Baitrunner is for me the perfect all round big fish or feeder real when a big reel is needed, it only cements that fact by lasting so long, almost to long as I have never even thought of buying another reel to do these jobs as these reels have more than done the job year upon year testimony to their build quality and performance although the new models that are available today must be better I have yet to find out.

If you are thinking of purchasing a big fish reel then look no further you will most certainly find a superb offering in the Shimano camp that will last for as long as you want it too !.

The Levipiombo

This is a gem of a tool that any discerning angler should not be without..

If you have ever tried to remove small shot from fine lines then you will appreciate the use of this tool as it has a perfect shot removal set of jaws at one end and a set of shots spreaders at the other these being used to relax the tension on shot that you have applied too tightly.

I used to struggle no end to remove small shot in sizes 13- 9 especially in cold weather when my fingers were numb without damaging fine lines but now it is easy with one pinch of the shot remover the small shots will fall off, this is not a cheap tool but it will serve you well and last for ever unless you drop it in the water as it does not float.

Gamakastu G-Point Gama Green Barbless Sizes 24 - 16

These are just about the best hooks for silver fish that I have ever come across !, I have been using these hooks for around fifteen years now and have yet to find a hook that is as good, they have gone through the changes a bit over the years being distributed by Gamakatsu, DAM and now Diawa (old pattern number LS-151) but the hook remains the same razor sharp fine wire barbless with a green colouration.

If you are going to bag up with better fish especially fishing to hand then these are not the hooks for the job but if you are fishing for Roach, Skimmers or Rudd that are particularly hook shy using fine hooklengths and elastics then these are the perfect candidates, best used for bloodworm, squat and pinkies but I use the bigger sizes for the big maggot, caster and even Tare, go and buy some.

Kamasan Black Cap Block End Feeders

What can you say about these block end feeders that have been around for as long as I can remember, they are just the job for all of your river feeder fishing using maggot, hemp and caster or steak and mince, they are very robust and have a perfect shape for casting a long way with a one handed click of cap that is easy to get used to.

These feeders come in a variety of sizes but you can buy extra lead that can be pushed through the holes and then the legs folded back which stops them coming off, if you haven't got some of these already and you are thinking of tackling a river then get some.
