Marsh
Fishery,
Barrow
Haven
Sat Nav.
DN19 7EU

This
complex,
consisting
of a
main
lake of
6 acres
or more
and a
smaller
pond,
has been
taken on
for the
2009/2010
season
and is
intended
to
replace
the
similar
lake at
Winter’s
Lake,
East
Halton.
Despite
it’s
large
size the
main
lake is
made up
of
numerous
inlets
and bays
and is
well
worth
exploring
for the
likely
looking
‘Mr.
Crabtree’
style
pegs.
Platforms
are
planned
for
three
sides of
the
lake.
The
complex
is owned
and
managed
by John
Fox, a
previous
owner of
Barton
Broads,
so we
can be
sure he
knows
his
business.
The
complex
is in
the
process
of being
reclaimed
from an
overgrown
and much
neglected
reed
filled
lake.
Already
the
place is
taking
shape
and
looks to
be a
potential
valuable
asset to
the
club.
Currently
the lake
contains
some
very
decent
tench,
carp,
and
bream,
and the
club is
introducing
more
roach,
rudd,
and chub
this
spring.
To reach
this
fishery
you need
to head
for
Barrow
Haven
either
via
theA15
(North)
and the
B1206,
or, from
the
West,
via the
A1077
through
Barton.
You then
turn
left,
where
signposted,
for
Barrow
Haven,
into
Ferry
Road and
follow
this
until
you take
the
first
left
after
the mini
roundabout
into
West
Marsh
Lane.
Follow
West
Marsh
Lane and
you
reach a
level
crossing
with a
gate.
The
entrance
to the
fishery,
which is
marked
as a
private
road, is
on the
right
immediately
prior to
the
level
crossing.
The
entrance
is gated
but
should
not be
locked
during
the day.
If it is
locked
you will
be able
to
unlock
the
club’s
combination
lock.
Please
leave
the gate
closed
but only
lock it
if it
was
locked
when you
arrived.
Take the
entrance
road and
follow
it down
to the
old tile
buildings
and park
facing
the lake
on the
hard
standing
area.
