River Trent near Coates

The nearest postcode I have so far is for the farm at the top of the lane:

Coates
Retford
Nottinghamshire
DN22 0HA

Our Club Bailiff is SANDY on 0796 8339598

We have another stretch of the popular river Trent near the village of Coates on the west bank of the tidal Trent between Littleborough and Cottam and is on the outside of a large bend with deep fast water close in under our bank. It has the added advantage of being richly coloured majority of the time.

All species are present with the prospect of some large Barbel. The stretch has good access and all pegs have vehicular access (weather permitting). Do not park vehicles on the top flood bank and always take your vehicle down the concrete slipway where you will find ample parking before and after the first gate. Make sure you never restrict any of the driveways near the pump house. The Bailiff visits the venue 2 or 3 times a day and requests that you display your club car sticker in the window and have your membership book ready at hand. You are NOT ALLOWED to fish in front of the pump house; you must go through the gate to the left of the pump house on the lower bank.

This is a natural unspoiled stretch of river we ask all members to adhere to the club rules as if this water proves to be popular we may have the opportunity of additional water in the  area.

From Gainsborough head towards Beckingham, at round-about turn left towards Saundby, continue to round-about and turn left towards Leverton. This leads into Sturton le Steeple. Turn left at ‘T’ junction, the road bends to the right becoming Cross St. Take the 2nd left  at Primary School into Church St., Continue approx 2 miles until you see a distinctive small Hexagonal House (with white porch and green door) on the left verge at ‘T’ junction. Turn right here (Thornhill Road) heading towards Cottam. The road bends left heading east, shortly coming to Coates. Only 3 or 4 houses here and a sharp right turn with white farm house on your right hand side. 100 yards from the bend there is a track on the left heading towards a pump house you can see on the flood bank top.
